JWalk Go

Coming soon to iPhone and Android

Walk the city. The stories find you.

JWalk Go is a self-guided audio tour app. Download a tour, put your phone in your pocket, and it tells you when you reach the place where the next story happened.

How it works

A guided tour, on your own schedule

  1. Pick a tour

Each one is written and narrated by people who know the place: licensed guides, historians and locals.

  2. Download it once

The whole tour, map included, saves to your phone. No signal, no data plan, no buffering on a side street.

  3. Walk

Put your phone away. When you reach a stop it chimes and buzzes; press Play, without unlocking, and the story begins. The map shows you the way to the next.

  • Armchair mode. Play any tour you own from the sofa, stop by stop, before your trip or long after it.
  • Content notes first. A stop that deals with something hard tells you so before it starts.
  • Know before you go. Length, distance, where it ends, steps, shade and restrooms, all on the tour page.
  • Your place is saved. Stop for lunch. The tour picks up where you left off.

The first tours

Starting in Charleston

JWalk Go grew out of JWalk Tours, Charleston's guided walking tours. The first tours come from the same guides.

Charleston, South Carolina

Churches of the Holy City

From St. Michael's to Mother Emanuel, twelve stops through the historic district, asking what the Holy City's promise of religious freedom meant, and who it included.

Rails, Blues, Murals & Mushrooms

A loop from the DART station through Deep Ellum: the railroad that made it, the blues players who named it, the murals that tell its story now, and a working mushroom farm.

Hand your guests a tour

Give guests a card with a tour code and a QR code. They scan it, the tour lands in their app, and you pay only for the codes that get used.

Partner codes

  • Printed cards with a QR code, ready for a front desk or a welcome bag.
  • Pay per redemption at an agreed price, with a cap so a lost batch cannot run up a bill.
  • Each code works once, for one guest.
